Mobile Water Treatment Platform
“Providing
for the Treatment of Excess Dredge Water and the Removal of Residual
Contamination”
Seaway's development of a patented mobile water
treatment plant provides the means to treat excess dredge water
generated during dredging operations and to assist in the removal
of residual contamination at sediment cleanup sites.
Excess Dredge Water Treatment
Free water generated during the excavation, transport,
and dewatering of contaminated sediments must be contained and treated
prior to disposal. Seaway has designed and tested a mobile barge-mounted
water treatment operation that can be brought to any location along
a waterway and used to treat excess waters collected during dredging
operations. Mobile excess dredge water treatment eliminates the
need for fixed land-based facilities.
Residual Contamination (Vacuum Sweep Technology)
During
contaminated sediment dredging operations, residual contamination
in the form of a fluffy, highly contaminated sediment layer is a
source of contamination that prevents high efficiency cleanups and
will migrate to downstream locations. Multiple dredging passes using
conventional technologies have shown to be ineffective in removing
this residual contamination. Seaway’s patented mobile water
treatment plant, coupled with its cutter-less vacuum head technology,
provides the means to Vacuum Sweep this residual fluff layer. Used
in tandem with a dredging operation, Seaway’s Vacuum Sweep
Operation provides the most effective means to remove sediment inventory
and residual contamination.
Seaway’s Mobile Water Treatment System makes
use of Pall Water Filtration Membrane Technology and Carbon Adsorption
treatment (if needed) to provide treatment efficiencies unattainable
using conventional excess dredge water treatment systems.
