Seaway
is a marine engineering and technology development firm specializing in the
development and operation of new technology for solving environmental
problems in the marine environment.
The removal of contaminated sediments from the bottom
of lakes, rivers and estuaries presents many challenges to planners,
scientists and engineers that are not encountered during typical
navigation or maintenance dredging operations. Some of this challenges
include
- Preventing the dispersion of contaminants from
a dredge work area during cleanup operations,
- Providing for a more effective waterway cleanup
capable of meeting target cleanup goals,
- Improving the efficiency of solids collection
and disposal practices by minimizing the quantity of water collected
with the sediments,
- Minimizing the disruption to local communities
resulting from the need for solids off-loading, solids dewatering,
solids storage and solids transportation facilities in cleanup
area neighborhoods, and
- Reducing the risks associated with partial ineffective
cleanups that result in additional remedial actions and associated
legal problems.
This web site provides a description of Seaway
technologies and includes information on
- Seaway's Mobile
Containment (Control Zone Technology): a description of Seaway's
breakthrough technology, in mobile system containment, designed
to prevent the migration of contaminants from a dredge work area,
- Seaway's Contaminated
Sediment Excavator (CSE): a description of a modified mechanical
dredge that provides a method to excavate sediments at a low moisture
content, and
- Seaway's Marine-Based
Solids Managements Technology: a description of Seaway's
innovative solids management system, which provides the means
to manage dredged solids on the waterway without impacting local
shoreline communities.
- Seaway's
Mobile Water Treatment Platform: a
description of Seaway's mobile water-based excess dredge water and residual
fluff treatment system, which provides the means to improve operational
efficiencies to remove residual contamination associated with
the dredging process.
